The Swiss National Park (SNP) is the largest wilderness area and the only national park in Switzerland. Since its foundation in 1914, it has pursued the goals of nature conservation, research, and public relations/environmental education. The SNP offers a platform for studies to over 50 research projects from Switzerland and abroad. The Research and Monitoring Department runs and supervises its own projects and coordinates research activities together with the SNP Research Commission (located at the Swiss Academy of Sciences, SCNAT).
