Researchers Beer - Casual conversations about research for all

Academia Raetica

Location: Kulturplatz Davos, Promenade 58c, Davos Platz

Start: 6:30 PM

On the first Tuesday of the month at 18:30, scientists and anyone with a thirst for knowledge meet at the “Researchers Beer” in the foyer of the Kulturplatz Davos to socialize and exchange ideas.

On Tuesday, September 2, Dr. Karim Bschir, Executive Director of the Ethics Commission and Head of the Integrity Office at the University of St. Gallen, will be a guest of Barbara Haller Rupf.

The two will discuss ethics in research (excluding human and animal research) and explore the question of whether ethics in research is a prerequisite or merely a “nice to have.”

Karim Bschir holds a Master's degree in Biochemistry from the University of Zurich and a PhD in Philosophy of Science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH). His research and teaching focus on general philosophy of science, the history of the philosophy of science, and topics related to the interaction between science and society. He is particularly interested in how scientific knowledge informs policy and how philosophy can support the responsible use of science and technology in society. Integrating perspectives from the humanities and natural sciences, as well as discussing the interplay between science, technology, and society, are central aspects of his academic work.

The event will be held in English.
