The Institute for Environment and Natural Resources focuses its research and teaching on developing sustainable solutions to current issues of social relevance. It offers a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering and a Master's degree in Environment and Natural Resources, as well as a diverse and practical continuing education programme, including specialist conferences. The Tourism and Sustainable Development Research Group in Wergenstein implements projects for sustainable regional development. It is committed to revitalising rural areas, creating platforms and providing impetus.

Wie lassen sich Entwicklungen frühzeitig erkennen, um nicht nur touristische Hotspots, sondern auch Folgen wie Wohnungsknappheit, Verkehrsüberlastung und Nutzungskonflikte rechtzeitig anzugehen? Im Fokus stehen präventive Strategien, das fragile Gleichgewicht zwischen Gästen, Bevölkerung und Natur sowie der Einfluss sozialer Medien auf diese Dynamiken. Expert:innen aus Wissenschaft, Umweltbildung, Tourismus und Social Media diskutieren mögliche Lösungsansätze anhand regionaler Beispiele.
