The Institut dal DRG was founded in 1904 and it is an important research and documentation center for the Rhaeto-Romansh language and Alpine culture. The Societad Retorumantscha is the sponsoring organisation of the institute.
At the IDRG the National Dictionary of Romansh is compiled and released. The DRG considers all Rhaeto-Romansh idioms and dialects of Graubünden as well as their historical developments (as of 2020: 14 volumes with the word series A–MINDRAMAINTA).
The dictionary is also accessible online (https://online.drg.ch). Furthermore, the Institut dal DRG has an extensive photo library, which can also be consulted online (https://fototeca.drg.ch).
