Transferable skills courses 2022

Registration for Academia Raetica's transferable skills courses is now open. We are pleased to offer you on-site and online courses with experienced lecturers on the following topics:

1.       Introduction to Statistics with R, ONLINE

This course introduces the essentials of statistical analysis for PhD students who have little or some background in statistics, but no programming skills in statistical software. Fundamental programming skills in R including analysis as well as (graphical) presentation are provided.

2.       Proposal writing and funding – part I, ONLINE

The workshop offers information from planning to submission of an application for third-party funding. Participants learn about the most important elements on how to plan, prepare and write a convincing proposal. -> Focus on instruments, CV, planning your proposal

3.       How to manage your research data, ONLINE

This introductory course will offer you the keys to develop the essential knowledge, resources and skills to optimize the management of your research data and increase your chances of complying with funding agencies’ requirements.

4.       Scientific writing, Davos

The seminar “Scientific Writing” covers all aspects of writing, submitting, reviewing and publishing your scientific manuscript.

5.       Proposal writing an funding – part II, ONLINE

This course recaps the most important national and European funding programs. In a second step, the participants will learn to understand and start to write specific parts of a research proposal: the research plan, the impact chapter, the implementation, the career plan, the budget, the ethics, the gender aspects and other parts requested by the funding agencies the participants intend to address. -> Focus on writing your proposal, managing your project

6.       Attention please! – Presenting successfully at conferences and other scientific contexts, Davos and ONLINE

In this seminar, we teach and help you practice authentic presentation techniques that work in an academic context. In addition to the 1.5-day workshop, an individual session is offered in which each participant presents their talk in preparation for the conference “Graubünden forscht” and receives detailed feedback from the trainer.

7.       The post-academic job search: finding opportunities outside the university and building applications, Davos and ONLINE

This course is for doctoral students and postdocs interested in transitioning into a non-university career. It reviews the current employment situation and provides participants with the practical tools to develop a rewarding career, whether in the private or public sector.

8.       Project management – a toolbox for scientists, Davos

This comprehensive workshop imparts a toolbox of project management skills for doctoral candidates and postdocs from various disciplines. It provides basic project management concepts and principles based on international standards (PMI).
