Researchers Beer - Casual conversations about research for all

Academia Raetica, Institut für Kulturforschung Graubünden

Location: Kulturplatz Davos, Promenade 58c, Davos Platz
Start: 6:30 p.m.

Graubünden has a diverse and an internationally well-connected scientific landscape. The Davos research institutes, which employ more than 300 researchers, are part of this. In addition, there is a large number of research-interested locals and guests who populate the “Science City”.

At the “Researchers Beer” in the foyer of the Kulturplatz Davos, scientists and citizens with a thirst for knowledge meet at 6:30 pm on the first Tuesday of the month to exchange ideas and get to know each other. To each “Researchers Beer” the Academia Raetica invites a person from its scientific network, who talks about their research in Graubünden in a moderated conversation as well as a short presentation and shares their knowledge with the audience.

Special guest: The Academia Raetica welcomes Dr. Thomas Barfuss. The literary and cultural scientist works as a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Cultural Research Graubünden.

Tonight’s topic: "Murderous Landscapes: The Crime Novel in Graubünden." Thomas Barfuss has explored the history and geography of crime fiction in Graubünden. He has spoken with authors about their motives and, in his latest book, sheds light on the close ties between detective and tourist, crime fiction and culinary arts. He offers insights into the research process and shares selected findings and results.

The event will be held in English.
