Researchers Beer - Casual conversations about research for all

Graubünden has a diverse and an internationally well-connected scientific landscape. The Davos research institutes, which employ more than 300 researchers, are part of this. In addition, there is a large number of research-interested locals and guests who populate the “Science City”.

At the “Researchers Beer” in the foyer of the Kulturplatz Davos, scientists and citizens with a thirst for knowledge meet at 6:30 pm on the first Tuesday of the month to exchange ideas and get to know each other. To each “Researchers Beer” the Academia Raetica invites a person from its scientific network, who talks about their research in Graubünden in a moderated conversation as well as a short presentation and shares their knowledge with the audience.

Special guest: Martin Stoddart will speak about laboratory-engineered knee joints. He has been working at the AO Research Institute in Davos since 2005. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Biology, he specialized in medical research, focusing on topics such as blood vessels, cartilage, and gene transfer.

Since 2020, he has been leading the program for regenerative orthopedics within the AO Research Institute. His work focuses on applied research for the regeneration and healing of human cells.

Stoddart is the author of over 160 scientific articles and book chapters, editor of three books, and has filed two patents. He lives with his family in Davos.

The AO Research Institute is a global leader in preclinical research for trauma surgery and orthopedics. The research conducted there significantly contributes to Davos being recognized as a renowned research location.
