Researchers Beer - Casual conversations about research for all
Location: Kulturplatz Davos, Promenade 58c, Davos Platz
Start: 6:30 p.m.
Graubünden has a diverse and an internationally well-connected scientific landscape. The Davos research institutes, which employ more than 300 researchers, are part of this. In addition, there is a large number of research-interested locals and guests who populate the “Science City”.
On the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m., scientists and guests from Davos with a thirst for knowledge meet at the "Researchers Beer" in the foyer of the Kulturplatz Davos to exchange ideas and get to know each other. To each "Researchers Beer", Academia Raetica invites a person from its scientific network to report on their research work in Graubünden and share their knowledge with the audience.
On June 6, Academia Raetica welcomes Christoph Messner from the Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research SIAF as "Special Guest". A native of Tyrol, he is a professor at the University of Zurich and heads the new Center for Precision Proteomics at SIAF. Proteomics is a branch of molecular biology that deals with the analysis of proteins. Proteins are the basic building blocks of cells and organisms and are involved in almost all biochemical processes. Therefore, this research approach is applied in many research areas of biochemistry and biomedicine. Messner will give an insight into proteomics and reveal why it sometimes smells like a bakery in the lab.
The event will be held in English.
Researchers Beer goes on summer break in July and August. On September 5, 8 p.m. (!), the next Researchers Beer will take place with "special guest" Claudia Loebel.
