Sibylle Grad studied pharmacy at ETH Zurich, where she graduated in 1991. Following some years working as a pharmacist, she started her PhD degree at the Institute of Cell Biology at ETH Zurich in 1995. She completed her PhD with a doctorate in natural sciences in 1995. After conducting research in San Diego/USA, she received a “Raetia grant” from the AO Research Institute Davos in 2000. Since then, she has worked as a postdoctoral researcher and as a researcher at the AO Research Institute. In 2006, she carried out a nine months research stay at Tokai University in Japan. Currently, she is the Deputy Program Leader Regenerative Orthopaedics and the Focus Area Leader Disc and Cartilage Biology. Sibylle Grad is a lecturer at the Department of Health Sciences and Technology at ETH Zurich, partner of several international projects, co-organizer of international congresses, a member of the editorial committee of scientific journals, and author of more than 75 publications.

In 2019, Sibylle Grad, was appointed associate professor (Privatdozent) in biomedical engineering at the Health Sciences and Technologies Department at her alma mater, the ETH Zurich.
