Dr. Paola Martínez Murillo, CK-CARE

Dr. Paola Martínez Murillo is an experienced immunology researcher whose career bridges microbiology, infectious disease research, and translational immunology. Originally trained as a bacteriologist in Colombia, she pursued a career in immunology from her Master’s studies onward and completed her PhD in immunology at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden before continuing her scientific work in Switzerland.

After research positions in Stockholm and Geneva, she joined CK-CARE in Davos as a postdoctoral researcher, where she investigates how immune cells respond to competing signals in inflammatory environments, with a particular focus on neutrophils and their role in diseases such as atopic dermatitis.

Her publication record reflects broad expertise in vaccine immunology and immune responses to major infectious diseases, including COVID-19, Ebola, malaria, and HIV. Alongside her laboratory work, she contributes to teaching, mentorship, and scientific exchange within the Swiss immunology community.
