Prof. Dr. Lucas Lombriser

Commission Member

Lucas Lombriser is a guest professor at the Department of Theoretical Physics at the University of Geneva, where he also served as a Swiss National Science Foundation Professor, and a consultant for artificial intelligence and quantitative analysis. His research in physics focuses on theoretical cosmology, dark energy, and modified theories of gravity.

Lombriser completed his physics studies at ETH Zurich and earned his PhD in 2011 at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of Zurich under the supervision of Uroš Seljak, with research stays at the University of California, Berkeley. After his doctorate, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at institutions in the United Kingdom before taking up a professorship at the University of Geneva in January 2018.

His research findings have far-reaching implications for understanding the cosmic structure and the evolution of the universe. Lombriser is also involved in significant space missions, including the European Space Agency's (ESA) Euclid space telescope and the ESA and NASA's Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) gravitational wave observatory.
