In July 2009, the Kühne Foundation initiated the research programme ‘Christine Kühne – Centre for Allergy Research and Education’ (CK-CARE), based in Davos Wolfgang. The establishment of CK-CARE marked the launch of one of Europe's largest private initiatives in the field of neurodermatitis and allergology research. Renowned research groups in Augsburg, Bonn (until 2023), Freiburg (from 2025), St. Gallen and Zurich, as well as central working groups at the Davos site, are working together with cooperation partners across borders to remedy deficits in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of people with allergies, thereby making an important contribution to the long-term well-being of patients. The central working groups are located in the new Research Building 2 on the Davos Medical Campus. In addition, a wide range of educational activities for doctors, carers and patients enables the knowledge and expertise generated to be passed on and contributes to significantly better care. CK-CARE is currently focusing in particular on translational research and treatment of atopic dermatitis and allergic diseases.
