AusblendenYour data, your questions: A practical statistics workshop for researchers
Academia Raetica
About the course
Every researcher working with empirical data needs a solid understanding of statistical data analysis. Yet, statistics is often taught in abstract ways, disconnected from real research questions. This hands-on online course bridges that gap by focusing on participants’ own data and projects.
Format
Participants begin with a self-paced online course to refresh or build foundational knowledge in statistics (accessible online from August 4). Then, across five interactive live sessions (2 hours each), you will learn statistics directly on examples based on research data of the group members. Before the course, you will submit your questions and datasets. During the sessions, we discuss these in detail and walk through example analyses together. Participants are encouraged to ask questions throughout.
Topics will be shaped by the group and may include: study design, choosing suitable statistical methods, interpreting results, dealing with small sample sizes, or effective presentation of data in text, tables, and figures.
This is not a generic statistics course - it’s hands-on support for your real research challenges.
Goals
The course aims to empower participants to analyze their data more confidently, avoid common pitfalls, and make informed methodological decisions. By the end, you will also be better equipped to critically read published results and to plan future studies more effectively.
Important: Meaningful participation requires sharing questions and (anonymized) data with the group. We expect you to attend four out of five sessions.
