Prof. Jürg Kessler, FHGR

Vice president

Jürg Kessler is the rector of the University of Applied Sciences Graubünden FHGR in Chur and a professor for corporate management. As Vice President of the Teaching Commission of the Chamber of Universities of Applied Sciences, he is committed to representing the concerns of the teaching profession at a national level.

Jürg Kessler graduated as a qualified surveyor (MSc ETH) from ETH Zurich and subsequently went on to work for several years as an engineer, before completing a master’s degree in Economics (MA UZH) at the University of Zurich.

Following his studies, he worked for 11 years at Zurich Insurance, and finished his time there as a member of management. Wanting to return to a role that was once again more closely linked to the direct application of engineering, he opted to move to Unique (the former name for Zurich airport) where he managed the buildings area as a member of the Executive Board. In this role, among other tasks, as overall project manager, he oversaw the expansion of the airport with building work totaling CHF 2.1 billion. During the grounding of Swissair, he could put to use his longstanding experience as the head of one of the four task forces responsible for crisis management.
