2021 eCM XX: Biofabrication for Orthopaedics

AO Forschungsinstitut Davos

Biofabrication is revolutionizing the ability to produce biological constructs with controlled architecture and properties. The impressive rate of progress achieved in (bio)printing and other biofabrication methods is establishing these techniques as mainstream approaches in 3D in vitro model development, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine.

Therefore, for its twentieth edition, we are proud to introduce this new topic at the 2020 eCM conference. The program will aim to create a cross fertilization of ideas between biofabrication and musculoskeletal research. The format will remain the same as previous years, with a single session, ample space for constructive debate, and free afternoons to take inspiration from the beauty of the Swiss alps to talk about science and maximize networking opportunities and interactions among the participants.

Prominent invited speakers and selected submitted contributions will illustrate the latest innovations and challenges in the field. There will be sessions on biofabrication processes, vascularization, specific musculoskeletal tissues, and a clinical session with dedicated time to discuss the barriers hindering the translation of biofabrication into clinical practice.
