If you are moving to Switzerland from abroad, you must register your personal property, furniture, valuables, sports equipment, and your vehicle at a customs office. Detailed information is provided on the website of the Federal Customs Administration.

Procedure: Fill in the form “18.44 Declaration/Application for clearance of household effects”. Create an inventory of all items that you want to bring to Switzerland. The form 18.44 and a guide for the inventory (list of resettlement goods) are available for download on the aforementioned website in the section “Service” at the bottom of the webpage. Do not worry; it is not as complicated as it looks.
