The Institut für Kulturforschung Graubünden (ikg) is an independent research institute, supported by a foundation and associated with the Association for Cultural Research Graubünden, with financial contributions from the federal government and the canton.

The institute conducts and promotes research in the humanities, social sciences and cultural studies with a general reference to the Alpine region and with special emphasis on Graubünden and neighboring regions. In addition to its headquarters in Chur, the institute maintains a branch office in Sils/Segl.

The project work is accompanied by numerous events that communicate scientific results to a broad audience. The connection to university research is guaranteed by the institute's own research council. The institute publishes several books annually.
